THE OPPORTUNITY
St. Francis Xavier was a well-known and respected university in Canada and internationally. Its excellence in academics, campus life, athletics and school pride provided tremendous exposure to the StFX brand. Yet the truest of representative media – the internet – did not portray the quality of StFX’s brand message, nor its reputation as a leader within Canada’s list of post-secondary institutions. StFX.ca was outdated and was trying too hard to be young.
THE CHALLENGE
“Create an online brand experience that was representative of a progressive university supported by a rich heritage.”
70 Main Street’s mission was to remove the pretense and let StFX’s true colours show: bring out the beauty of the campus, bring back the classic logo, create a distinguished look for a distinguished university. Be old in a way that appeals to youth.
THE ASK
• Brand Consultation
• Information Architecture
• Conceptual Design
• Template Design
• Copy Writing
• Page Production
• Flash Animation
• CMS (Drupal) Setup and Integration
• Analytic Integration
• Style Guide Creation
THE RESULT
70 Main Street launched a website that communicated to prospective students that enrolling at StFX meant joining a story of distinguished achievement – a story that began long ago and continues today. 70 Main Street empowered the campus to tell a visual story by allowing campus imagery to dominate site imagery. We also showcased the Virtual Tour prominently on the site. This virtual tour integrated 3D videos streamed through location descriptions integrated with Google Maps.
70 Main Street created over 100 pages, which required us to execute a well-orchestrated project plan. A short project timeline required us to ensure that the various moving parts (copy, creative, programming, and page development) worked seamlessly and simultaneously together. Also, we were tasked with making the website manageable via a Content Management System (we chose Drupal) which added complexity. 70 Main Street used agile scheduling to configure Drupal in parallel to creative development, which saved considerable time.
WHAT OUR CLIENT THOUGHT:
“Working with the 70 Main team was great. They listened to our vision, and weren't afraid to challenge us on our ideas. Ultimately they produced the best result.”
